Yes, that change allowed web pages to load. It seems to be routing through the Pioneer now! I connect via WiFi and mobile data with and without the VPN enabled and with the VPN enabled on my client device the IP address switched to match the home IP address.

Sorry to be commenting on this so late. But, I think that, for security, your FreedomBox WAN (end0) interface should be set to the internal firewall zone. Otherwise, I think that FreedomBox will make available services that are meant for your internal network available to the open internet.
