Thank You for Your Outstanding Work on FreedomBox

Hello,

I’ve just completed the installation of FreedomBox OS on the Pioneer Edition Home Server (Pioneer-FreedomBox-HSK - Open Source Hardware Board), using the latest stable image: “freedombox-bookworm_all-armhf.img.xz” (downloaded from Index of /pub/freedombox/hardware/armhf/stable).

First of all, let me express my deep appreciation for your remarkable work. The quality and scope of this project are truly impressive.

I was particularly pleased to discover the inclusion of a GnuDIP server — a thoughtful and valuable addition. Thank you for that!

It’s worth noting that FreedomBox OS isn’t designed for the technically faint-hearted. A solid background in system administration is required to properly follow the installation steps, configure the applications, and stay calm when the web interface becomes temporarily unreachable (a less experienced user might assume the installation has failed). That said, for technically inclined users, the OS delivers a wealth of well-integrated features and insightful details that significantly streamline service deployment.

If I may offer a small suggestion:

Advanced users might appreciate a CLI-based initialization path — perhaps a default login with a home directory containing a script to handle the essential first-time setup tasks (such as system and security updates) before launching the web interface.

Once again, thank you for your exceptional work and for your commitment to free software.

With kind regards,

Denis
