Option to : Tor Relay for a hour or two each day?

Hello All and thanks !!

At the moment we can have Tor relaying, as on or off. Would it be possible to be able to relay for a hour or two each day. By the means of some setting on the freedombox Tor config page ? The admin of the freedombox could set this ?

The Tor relay time could run just after the apt maintenance work as been done in the early hours of the morning.

We now can use Tor, for apt to download from. By relaying for a hour or two each day it would give back to the Tor network for our use. These small amount of relay time would be beneficial to the Tor network.

This sounds like a nice idea. People in different time zones all donating 1 hour in the middle of their night, for use by people elsewhere in their own day time.

The official Tor documentation recommends at least 2 + hours of uptime a day for operating a relay. For people short on bandwidth it would be better to add an option for running a Snowflake proxy.

Anyway, you could maybe setup a script with cron to automatically open and close the firewalld ports of your relay at specific hours each day.
