I’d like to share my experience here:
- Yesterday, I installed freedombox on a Pioneer using the stable image (bookworm), without installing any app, just creating the admin user and the main setup.
- I left it and this morning, it said it had finished updates. Yet, it was on 23.18 (I am sure it was 23, I am less sure I remember 18 correctly).
- I asked from plinth to do updates, it did not change anything. There was no menu to upgrade to next release (probably because it wasn’t there in 23.18).
- I ran “sudo apt full-upgrade”, during which, at some point, I was asked whether to install /etc/firewalld/firewalld.conf, I said no, which was the default. When it was finished, I rebooted.
- The web interface wasn’t available, and I could see that there was actually no plinth service, and “dpkg -L freedombox” was showing rather few files, as if the freedombox pacakge had been uninstalled.
- I ran “sudo apt install freedombox”. When it was done, I rebooted.
- After this, the web interface was working. It was saying it was still doing some updates (like users and groups, privacy, upgrade). I waited until it is finished.
- Now it says it is up to date and seems to be running ok.
