Installing on top of DietPi

Since the latest version of DietPi (9.18) is based on Trixie, does anyone know if it is ‘safe’ to install Freedombox on top of that or will there be key components missing?

I suggest trying it out on a separate SD card. You need to make sure that basic requirements such as systemd are running on the machine. You also need to make sure that the kernel and firmware are updated automatically by DietPi’s own mechanisms or by the unattended-upgrade package (this will installed by FreedomBox to perform automatic updates).

If most things work out but you run into specific issues, post there here and we can try to work them out.

Thanks Sunil,
I will give it a go and report back.

I wouldnt advise you to do it.
I’ve used both and both run their own scripts to do automated jobs… Theres bound to be conflicts and/or duplicate processes. If you know your way around, sure, Dietpi is a stripped Debian at its core. On my part, it wouldnt be worth the hassle unless you really want something out of it.
The Freedombox image for the Raspberry Pi works rather well… On the other hand DietPi is also a great system. Both on the same computer (one on top of the other), not for me.
