Infinoted server certificate is not considered secure

Problem Description
I installed Infinoted and connected to my server on Gobby. It says server certificate is not considered secure, given that it’s self-signed and it’s using local server name instead of remote FQDN.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Infinoted
  2. Connect from Gobby

Expected Results
I guess it should use the Let’s Encrypt server certificate.

Actual results
I get a warning with the following message:

The connection to host “x.y.z” is not considered secure

The issuer of the certificate is not known.
The hostname of the server “x.y.z”, does not match the hostname the certificate is issued to “x”.

Hey libsys.

[ Up front: your real hostname is still visible at the bottom of the screenshot, better scrub that part, too. ]

How are you connecting to your FB and does it have an external hostname for which the certificate is valid? How do the “common name” in the certificate and the real hostname differ? Have you set the hostname in FB’s system > configuration correctly?

I have my FB set up to be available at some FQDN “box.example.org” and that is what I’ve put into the configuration section for LetsEncrypt. Maybe this is where your setup looks differently?

Cheers,
Axel
