FreedomBox 26.9 released

FreedomBox 26.9 has been released and uploaded to Debian unstable. Typically, the freedombox package will migrate to testing in 2 days, and then can be uploaded to stable-backports.

Highlights of this release:

  • wireguard: Auto-generate client keypairs
  • wireguard: Provide download and QR code for client config

Other changes in this release:

  • bepasty: Don’t remove old system user and group
  • debian: Install and use sysusers.d/tmpfiles.d config files
  • debian: Stop deleting system user on remove/purge
  • infinoted: Use systemd-sysusers for creating a system user account
  • locale: Update translations for Dutch, German
  • syncthing: Use systemd-sysusers for creating a system user account
  • wireguard: Enable FreedomBox to connect to a server using IPv6

The upload to stable-backports has been delayed due to the following issue:

As far as I can tell, Debian testing/unstable systems are not affected by this issue. It only appears when freedombox 26.9 is installed on a Debian stable (trixie) system.
