Falling at the last hurdle with Nextcloud

I have been experimenting with the new release of Freedombox after having tried, and given up with previous versions. After 3-4 false starts, some of which may have been due to my impatience, I managed to get it working. There isn’t a lot of user feedback as to what’s happening on first install so I broke it a couple of times. Now it’s working, I really like it. I installed Nextcloud and when I tried to use it, I got the dialogue about untrusted domains. I followed the link to a wiki which describes editing config.php but I cannot find the file and I don’t know what to change exactly to make it work for me. The Nextcloud wiki is minimal, shall we say? This is still unresolved.

For some context, I have also been looking at CasaOS, UmbrelOS and Yunohost because they all have a similar aim to Freedombox. In at least two of these systems, I found myself locked out of Nextcloud due to the same issue. I decided to contact Nextcloud and mention this. The response was to suggest I use a hosting service for ease. They must not get the point of the whole DIY philosophy, so I feel I won’t get far there. Is there a mechanism to make it easier, do you think?

Freedombox doesn’t look quite as slick as CasaOS and UmbrelOS and that might not matter because it’s easy to use and navigate, but their app stores have lots more programs. My experience of using Cockpit on Freedombox is probably the best I’ve had on any platform so far.

Overall, I think Freedombox is a great idea, well-executed and for all the right reasons. I hope it is a great success.

You don’t have to edit config.php. Just set the “Override domain” in the FreedomBox configuration page for Nextcloud.

Thank you for your help.
I will have a closer look at what you suggested, later.
