[SOLVED] FreedomBox not updating past 26.2

Problem Description
FreedomBox about page gives this message:

You are running Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie) and FreedomBox version 26.2. There is a new FreedomBox version available.

Possibly Related:
As of a week or two ago I could resolve the name of my freedombox from a client on the LAN as freedombox.local. Today I cannot - the client can resolve freedombox but not freedombox.local.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Login to FreedomBox
  2. Click the Help menu → About link

Expected Results
I hoped for a smiley face telling me that FreedomBox is up to date.

Actual results
Help / About tells me…

  • FreedomBox version: 26.2
  • Hardware: Intel Atom. Linux 6.12.73+deb13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.73-1 (2026-02-17) x86_64 GNU/Linux
  • How did you install FreedomBox?: DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install freedombox -y (that was on Stretch or Buster).

Please check the System → Software Update page. At the bottom of the page, there is a button “Show recent update logs”. Scroll down and see if it mentions freedombox (26.4~bpo13+1), or if there is any information about why the update doesn’t happen.

It looks like it has updated between the OP and now. There are some new issues and I’ll start a new thread for that. I can’t get to plinth to get the information, here is apt search…
