Making a clean installation and restoring emails, calendar and contacts

In backup, I see items that are listed as Apps in plinth and items listed in settings (full list; BIND, Cockpit, Date & Time, Diagnostics, Dynamic DNS Client, Firewall, Let’s Encrypt, Name Services, Power, Privacy, Secure Shell Server, Security, Service Discovery, Software Update, Storage, Storage Snapshots).

My freedombox was installed several years ago, I have uninstalled mediawiki but it still shows up in the backup option, there are possibly things that I configured before but have no use anymore, so I’d like to make a fresh install and only get back my emails, contacts/calendar from radicale and possibly Quassel history, but nothing else.

Could I do that by making a backup only for Postfix/Dovecot, Radicale and Quassel, and nothing else, making a fresh configuration (with proper domain) and then restore this backup?

Hi,
Since a year I run an e-mail server with FreedomBox on my Pioneer and I am very happy with it. And since I have my main e-mail address on this server, I had to make sure to have all the worst case scenarios covered with backup and re setup solutions (I use the built in Borg and rsync the whole root file system to a remote FreedomBox connected with Wireguard and SSH).
Yes, the Borg backup is able to just install the mentioned apps (tick the boxes). I did do this re installation a couple of times and everything went fine. But be aware, that this process takes time and sometimes it looks like it won’t make it (Plinth is not reachable etc). After the setup from scratch I did configure the server with all the accounts and settings, installed the apps and after this I played the data back on the server with Borg (FreedomBoxBackups). But the backup is also able to do it in one run when you restore postfix/dovecot (I would prefer to restore one after another if you have more then one app to restore). I am not sure (forgot it) if dmarc is the same code again or if you have to adjust it on your ISP.
