# Configuring email

I’ve been trying to set up email notifications on my Freedombox, without success. When I try uncommenting and configuring the homeserver.yaml as per the block:

…Element throws the error “Connectivity to the server has been lost.”

If I re-comment the block, Connectivity resumes. Is there some obvious mistake I’m missing here?

For sending emails, you may want to use the SMTP server ([smtp.gmail.com:465](http://smtp.gmail.com:465)) instead of IMAP.
